Bonus Article: New garden built on North Side Binghamton
We are proud to report that we partnered with The Salvation Army to build a new community garden this past weekend. Amelia, VINES Board Member and Liberty Garden Volunteer Site Coordinator, provided technical support and consulted with The Salvation Army to plan out the Community Garden Build Day on October 10th. In total, 30 volunteers showed up to help build 14 garden beds on a vacant lot located at 530 State Street, in Binghamton (located near the Family Dollar on Chenango St). The garden will be ready for planting in the spring with the support of community members. The Salvation Army will manage the garden, but VINES will continue to offer support on an ongoing basis. A special thank you to Noon Rotary and Lowe’s Home Improvement for providing the funding for this community garden project.
