VINES Community Garden Proposal

VINES has set a goal to expand our community garden program, with our “20 by 2020” campaign. This goal was set because of continuous community inquiries and support of our existing community gardens. With VINES’ rapid expansion, we have decided to formalize our process with a New Garden Proposal application. VINES wants to be sure garden sites are chosen equitably, while maintaining our core values of improving food accessibility to communities and building community.

Garden Proposal Manual:

VINES has compiled a Garden Proposal Manual which will outline the process for submitting a Community Garden Proposal. Please find our 2019 Garden Proposal Manual here. A 2020 manual will be posted in early January 2020.

The Manual includes information on VINES’ Community Garden history, roles of community members, a project timeline and scoring criterion that will be used to review all garden proposals. Reviewing the Community Garden Proposal Manual and looking at existing gardens for inspiration is a great first step towards bringing a community garden to your neighborhood.

Submitting a Garden Proposal :

To submit a proposal you must have attended VINES’ Garden Proposal Workshop. The workshop will be held in February 2020- Date to be determined. Community Garden Proposals are will be due in April. Please check back for updates.

VINES Community Garden Budget Template: Word Download
A mandatory portion of the proposal is to complete a budget draft. An example is provided in the Garden Proposal Manual. Please find an editable blank copy above.

2020 Deadlines & Dates :

Mandatory Garden Proposal Workshop – February 2020, date to be determined
This workshop is mandatory and a required step to submitting a VINES Community Garden Proposal for 2020.

Community Garden Proposal Due – April 2020, date to be determined

Community Garden Proposal Decisions – May 2020

Community Garden Acceptance Planning Meeting – May/June 2020
Upon proposal review, VINES will schedule a meeting with accepted proposals to discuss the next steps towards building your garden!
