A quick, simple way to cook bok choy that highlights its fresh flavor and crisp texture. This easy stir-fry comes together in minutes and makes a perfect side for any meal.
Ingredients
Bok Choy1lb
Garlic, optional1–2cloves
Cooking oil1Tbsp
Salt1/4Tsp
Black pepper, to taste
A splash of soy sauce or sesame oil, optional
Instructions
Wash the bok choy well. Separate the leaves and rinse thoroughly, especially near the base where dirt can collect.
Chop into bite-sized pieces. Keep the white stems and green leaves in two piles.
Heat oil in a large pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the bok choy stems first and stir-fry for 1–2 minutes.
The stems cook a little slower than the leaves, so adding them first helps everything finish evenly.
Add the leafy greens and sprinkle with salt.
Stir-fry for another 2–3 minutes, until the leaves are wilted and the stems are tender but still slightly crisp.
Add black pepper and a splash of soy sauce if using. Serve warm.
