Making Art with Plants: Cyanotype Toning and Natural Dyes with Kari Varner

Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring cyanotype toning and natural fabric dyeing with botanicals. You’ll learn how to transform textiles using a range of natural dyes and techniques,
including bundle dyeing and immersion dyeing. If you attended the Cyanotype Printing Workshop on June 7th, bring your prints along to learn how to transform their colors using
natural toning methods.
Kari Varner is a photography instructor at the local university and is deeply passionate about sharing art as an accessible medium for expression. Kari has been active in local art exhibitions, is a co-director of the campus gallery that serves as an important venue for contemporary art exposure in the local community, and has previous experience conducting arts workshops with artists of all ages and abilities. She believes that art has the capacity to enliven and enrich our connection to the natural world.
This project is funded by Earlville Opera House’s Arts in the Community Grants Program, made possible by the NYS Senate with support of the Office of the Governor, and administered by the New York State Council on the Arts.
Additional support for the Broome ACG Program graciously provided by the Stewart W. and Willma C. Hoyt Foundation, Inc.
This workshop is FREE and open to the public. A suggested donation of $5-$10 is appreciated.
