Making Art with Plants: Handmade Paper Making with Kari Varner

Learn the basics of handmade paper making in this beginner friendly workshop. We’ll use plant fibers and recycled junk mail to create a variety of papers, and you will have the option to add seeds, petals, or other natural elements to your sheets.

Kari Varner is a photography instructor at the local university and is deeply passionate about sharing art as an accessible medium for expression. Kari has been active in local art exhibitions, is a co-director of the campus gallery that serves as an important venue for contemporary art exposure in the local community, and has previous experience conducting arts workshops with artists of all ages and abilities. She believes that art has the capacity to enliven and enrich our connection to the natural world.

       This project is funded by Earlville Opera House’s Arts in the Community Grants Program, made possible by the NYS Senate with support of the Office of the Governor, and administered by the New York State Council on the Arts.

       This workshop is FREE and open to the public.  A suggested donation of $5-$10 is appreciated.
